HSArts is now an Art Renewal Center (ARC) Approved school. HSArts is one of the few high schools recognized by this prestigious community of talented ateliers, artists and professionals.

To become an ARC Approved school, all ARC Approved schools and ateliers must focus on skill-based training and classical and naturalist education and be firmly grounded in realism defined as the accurate, detailed, depiction of nature or of life. Ninety percent or more of the instruction taking place at the school relating to drawing, painting, or sculpting must be in line with the above requirement.

This is a great honor and we look forward to sharing more news with you about the many new opportunities presented by this new affiliation. Stay tuned!

The Circle of Student Life

Front Page News
September 22, 2022
By Mr. Brian Nieh, Student Life overseer

From the day students arrive on the campus, and blinking, stepped into clubs, there’s more clubs here than we have had before, more to do than can ever be done.

You may recall an earlier post announcing all of our clubs, and that’s a big part of our student life here. During after school times, besides study hall, we have clubs aplenty: art club, origami club, yearbook club, student council, basketball club, games club, and more! You can really feel the bonding happening with our students, and I’m all for it.

After our very exciting Mid-Autumn Festival, we have more events on the way. Spirit week is coming up October 3-7, with plenty of opportunities for students to show their school spirit. The week will culminate in a fun Field Day on Friday with indoor and outdoor activities, and, of course, great food and treats in tow.

Looking ahead, we have lots to look forward to: fundraisers, movie nights, Halloween and other holidays, and more! Stay tuned in the circle, the circle of student life.

A Successful Mid-Autumn Festival Celebration!

Front Page News
September 15, 2022

Second only to Chinese or Lunar New Year, Mid-Autumn Festival is one of the most celebrated holidays in Chinese and Asian cultures,. Every year, with the moon at its fullest and brightest, we gather together with family and friends to celebrate and give thanks for our good fortunes.

Last Friday, we had many of our HSArts families join in the festivities! With food aplenty, we were treated to a wonderful lineup of programs capturing the many talents of our students and staff. Afterwards, everyone had lots of fun solving riddles, playing games, and feasting on snacks and drinks. Thank you for all the people involved in helping to make our Mid-Autumn Festival an event to remember!

Here are some pictures from the event. For more, make sure to visit our social media pages.

Once more, a big THANK YOU to all the student, staff, and parents who helped us make it happen. And, of course, to everyone who joined and shared the evening with us. We really appreciate it and love that our HSArts community is growing and becoming even closer.

Back-to-School Night!

Things haven’t slowed down on campus all summer and we are pleased to have everyone back on campus! While our summer programs were in full swing, HSArts teachers and staff were in and out of the building planning for our new school year.

School started just a few weeks ago with a fun, all-school camping trip to build community spirit. Our all-important Orientation Day brought our students, new and returning, back onto campus. Our Back to School Night was well attended by parents and guardians as our teachers shared their new plans for this upcoming school year. We are especially excited to welcome our new staff members to our building.

Some exciting changes this year include adding to our school a new fifth-grade class and our dual enrollment program with Academy of Arts University for our Visual Arts students.
