Just like the plum blossom enduring the harsh winter snow to bloom in the spring, our dancers have endured through rigorous training and rehearsals to arrive in competition season. The majority of dance competitions take place during the springtime, as early as January. For our dancers, both in the full-time and Young Artists program, we are aiming to join a number of competitions starting early February.

We are very excited for our dancers and wish them the best of luck. Let’s continue working hard and win those awards!

Young Artists News of the Week

Hello friends! Winter Wonders is happening soon, and I want to remind everyone of a few things:

First, please pay attention to emails from Ms. Ginnie! Her emails always have very important and critical information regarding the upcoming events. If all else fails, please read her emails and you should get the information you need.

Secondly, don’t forget to bring everything you need! Dance clothes and dance shoes, hair clips and hair nets, make up, costume, everything! We won’t be at school so we may not have something if you forget it.

Next, don’t forget to bring your family and friends! This is an exciting performance and something I’m sure everyone will enjoy very much. We hope to see their smiles in the audience next Friday!

Finally, don’t forget yourself! We need you at your best and most energetic and most prepared and most excited! 

Looking forward to seeing you all there! Let’s have a great time!

Bring a Friend to Dance Class!

Spring classes for our Young Artists Program start on Tuesday, January 3rd –what better way to kick off the semester than sharing the joy of dance with our best friends! Between Jan 3-13, students are encouraged to bring a friend to one of their dance classes. When a new student decides to sign up for class, both they and the referring family will receive a $50 referral credit.

First Round of Dress Rehearsals for Winter Wonders

Next week, November 14-18, we will be holding our first round of dress rehearsals for our Winter Wonders performance (at Herbst Theatre on December 16). Our students have been busy working hard on their choreography, rehearsing movements, and practicing techniques in preparation for our upcoming showcase. With many of the costumes, props, music, and designs gradually coming together, it is the perfect time before Thanksgiving break to check on the progress and hold separate dress rehearsals.

These dress rehearsals will take place on the days the students are here, and we will minimize asking students to make extra trips. This will be different from our major final dress rehearsal planned for December 7, where we hope all performers can join us for a full runthrough of the performance. If you’re unsure or if you have any questions, please ask the teacher for your class or contact Ms. Ginnie for details. Stay tuned for a sneak peek next week!

Welcome to our Young Artists news section! Here you will get a peek into our after school and weekend extracurricular program, and learn about our hard working and dedicated young artists. Preparations and rehearsals are coming along nicely, and we can’t wait to showcase their delightful programs at the Winter Wonders performance in December!

Open Classes, Trial Classes

Interested in something new? Want to shore up your training? Know anyone who might want to try out our dance or art classes? 

The Young Artists program will hold free open and trial classes for students ages 4-17.  We invite you, your siblings and friends to come see what our students are learning and how much fun they’re having! More importantly, we want you to have the chance to try it for yourself. Come experience a class with our expert teachers in our great facility, and discover the artist in you!

Mid-Autumn Festival 2022

The Mid-Autumn Festival is an annual tradition at HSArts. A holiday centered around family, togetherness, and appreciation, the HSArts community welcomes everyone for an evening of stories and riddles, music and performances, and of course mooncakes.

With the moon at its brightest, so are our hearts shining together as one, ushering in the new school year, new season, and new experiences on our journey to traditional arts and universal values. Come and celebrate with us at HSArts on Friday, September 9.
