Spirit Week underway

Student Life News
October 6, 2022

So far this week, we had wonderful purples and golds on Monday, extremely comfy outfits Tuesday, and sudden twins dressing in sync on Wednesday. Today, students show off their elegant style in lovely dresses and formal suits. The students also created beautiful design proposals for our school mural and squeezed in a club fair on the side. We’re loving everyone’s SPIRIT this week. Hope everyone, students and staff, are enjoying it. Let’s keep it up!

Dress up Days
Students (and staff) are encouraged to dress up in the theme of each day during Spirit Week. Themes are as follows:

  1. Monday: School Colors day (purple/gold)
  2. Tuesday: Comfy day
  3. Wednesday: Twin day
  4. Thursday: Formal day
  5. Friday: Sports day

*note: All clothing worn for dress up days should still follow general clothing guidelines. Students choosing not to participate in the dress up days are required to wear their uniforms.

School Mural
In our ongoing efforts to beautify our school and community, our student body will create a large mural on the east wall outside of school under the guidance of our visual arts teachers. Students will use time from select classes throughout the week to create this huge work of art. We can’t wait to see what they’ve designed!

Field Day
Our Spirit Week ends on Friday with a Field Day in Golden Gate Park. Students will have the opportunity to engage in fun-filled games and team building activities, and enjoy a delicious BBQ lunch and ice cream social!

Club Fair
Next Tuesday during lunch (11:30am – 12:00pm), our student clubs will hold a club fair to introduce their clubs and recruit interested students to join in the fun. From Art Club, to Basketball Club, to Games Club – and even a Honeybee Club, come see what these student-run clubs are all about and join a club that is right for you!

Student Ambassadors

Student Life News
September 29, 2022

On Monday, the Admissions Office announced the formation of the Ambassador Club. Ambassadors are students who represent HSArts at various on and off campus events. They share information and personal perspectives about HSArts with interested students and their families.

A presentation on Monday introduced important public speaking and leadership skills that will serve our students as ambassadors and will also aid them as they move forward in their academic and professional endeavors. Additionally, participation in a school’s Ambassador Club looks great on any student’s résumé! HSArts students who are interested in becoming ambassadors may contact Dr. Fung for more information.

The Circle of Student Life

Front Page News
September 22, 2022
By Mr. Brian Nieh, Student Life overseer

From the day students arrive on the campus, and blinking, stepped into clubs, there’s more clubs here than we have had before, more to do than can ever be done.

You may recall an earlier post announcing all of our clubs, and that’s a big part of our student life here. During after school times, besides study hall, we have clubs aplenty: art club, origami club, yearbook club, student council, basketball club, games club, and more! You can really feel the bonding happening with our students, and I’m all for it.

After our very exciting Mid-Autumn Festival, we have more events on the way. Spirit week is coming up October 3-7, with plenty of opportunities for students to show their school spirit. The week will culminate in a fun Field Day on Friday with indoor and outdoor activities, and, of course, great food and treats in tow.

Looking ahead, we have lots to look forward to: fundraisers, movie nights, Halloween and other holidays, and more! Stay tuned in the circle, the circle of student life.

A Successful Mid-Autumn Festival Celebration!

Front Page News
September 15, 2022

Second only to Chinese or Lunar New Year, Mid-Autumn Festival is one of the most celebrated holidays in Chinese and Asian cultures,. Every year, with the moon at its fullest and brightest, we gather together with family and friends to celebrate and give thanks for our good fortunes.

Last Friday, we had many of our HSArts families join in the festivities! With food aplenty, we were treated to a wonderful lineup of programs capturing the many talents of our students and staff. Afterwards, everyone had lots of fun solving riddles, playing games, and feasting on snacks and drinks. Thank you for all the people involved in helping to make our Mid-Autumn Festival an event to remember!

Here are some pictures from the event. For more, make sure to visit our social media pages.

Once more, a big THANK YOU to all the student, staff, and parents who helped us make it happen. And, of course, to everyone who joined and shared the evening with us. We really appreciate it and love that our HSArts community is growing and becoming even closer.
