Bring Joy and Happiness to All People
People have asked what our students do to help the community. Each student completes dozens of hours of community service each year. Some of those hours include performances and art exhibitions. That’s something unique our students contribute to the community, combining our duty to give back and our desire to share our arts with those around us. It touches the hearts of children and adults, especially our seniors. Audiences are often moved to tears. We need more of that during these challenging times, and I’m proud of every single one of our students! Go Phoenix!

We start the new year 2023 with great success. Soon the Year of the Rabbit, there are many things we look forward to this year. Our HsArts Community Chinese New Year Celebration, many performance and competition opportunities these two months, and the high school trip to Taiwan in March. Welcome back everyone!
Crazy weather we’re having, am I right? I’m happy to say that despite mother nature’s recent tantrums, our school has remained open for our families who braved the storm to attend classes as normal. But for all those who feel it is not safe, please stay safe and remain at home and our teachers will find ways to accommodate and get you the work to keep up.
All in all, we’re just so happy to see everyone back at school, in classes, in uniforms, engaging in the art that they love. Let’s stay passionate and work hard to achieve even greater successes this coming semester! Go Phoenix!

End of semester is a busy time for all of our students. They are working hard on their final projects, preparing for the final exams, putting the last touches on their artwork to get them ready for the exhibit, and our performing art students are rehearsing their performances. We are counting down the days to our final shows. It will be a great showcase of our students’ hard work and dedication. I look forward to our shows next Thursday at school and Friday 12/16 at the Herbst Theater. Go Phoenix!

November is our kindness month. We learned how to be kind to others, show gratitude and appreciation to our teachers and staff. We also need to be kind to ourselves. We did mindfulness journaling at Golden Gate Park this past Monday. It is important to practice mindfulness during our last stretch of the semester when we have pressure from our exhibit and performances, as well as finals.

November is our Kindness Month! We talked about how to be kind to others, and show our appreciation to teachers. There are no boundaries for kindness, as Desmond Doss showed us last week in the Veteran’s Day video we watched!
I am also proud to announce that, for the FIRST TIME, our middle school basketball
team WON against the Stratford sixth graders this Tuesday! Our students played hard and played well. Go Phoenix!

Greetings everyone!
This week our students heard from the well-respected Korean War Veteran Judge Quentin Kopp who talked about the history of Veteran’s day. Afterwards, we watched a cartoon about Desmond Doss, a winner of the Congressional Medal of Honor for his bravery during World War II. Doss’ love for our country and for his fellow soldiers was unquestioned and propelled him to complete great feats in midst of battle. We thank them all for their service.

We had a lovely time last Friday during my afternoon tea with parents and Peter Zhang, our college counselor. Peter’s extensive college counseling experience is impressive and his stories were inspirational. We are here to help our students to reach their dreams. Sky’s our limit! Go Phoenix!
