Spring break is upon us! And everyone can enjoy a well-deserved break! Coming back in April, we’re jumping right into a slew of events and important dates, listed at the end but detailed right here:

Apr 3 Senior Photoshoot
Our lovely seniors will don their graduation gowns and take their immortalized photos in the annals of HSArts history.

Apr 5 Last day to pay for Santa Cruz fees for 4/14
Optional, for those who want to ride the rides.

Apr 6 Monterey Fish Market Field Trip
Led by Mr. R, there will be fish.

Apr 7 Group photoshoot
At lunch, all staff and students will take a group photo together!

Apr 7 Last day to pay for Yearbook
Get your moneys in for your very own yearbook! We won’t order extras, so you have to preorder if you want one!

Apr 12 Career Fair
Learn about the jobs and careers of adults in our HSArts community. Organized our Parent Club.

Apr 14 Land Day & Santa Cruz (Easter Event)
This is the big one. We’ll be going down to the Land for an Easter Event before heading to the Santa Cruz boardwalk for a full day of fun!

Exciting Plans for CNY Celebration

Our student councils are excitedly preparing for the upcoming CNY celebration, next Friday. The high school student council is planning to sell several drink and dessert items, so make sure to bring some extra cash to enjoy the delectable treats. For our middle school student council, they hope to entertain with several games and activities. We encourage you to check them out and support our student councils in their extracurricular efforts!

Spooky Scary Skeletons… Halloween is here!

Halloween is nearly upon us, and our student councils are ready to go! Pumpkins are ready for Jack-o-Lantern carving. Goodies are ready for our bake sale. We’ve picked the spooky show for our movie-night, and ghosts will be busted! Best of all, we have quite a few entries into our Halloween costume competition. Can’t wait to share photos of all the contestants along with all the other fun Halloween activities of the day. Stay tuned!

Coming soon: Events for the Parents

We have several upcoming events for our parents to look forward to:

First up are the Parent-Teacher Conferences. Wednesday to Friday afternoons next week, parents can schedule a time to meet with each teacher and discuss Quarter 1 grades and student progress so far.

Next is Afternoon Tea with Dr. Sherry. Friday afternoon 3-4pm, have a nice chat while having tea and nice pastry with Dr. Sherry while she updates on school news and fields questions from parents.

Finally, during the Afternoon Tea, our college counselors, Dr. Shalina Fung and Mr. Peter Zhang, will also be joining us to host a College Counseling Workshop. They will be available to meet with parents, talk about the college applications process, and answer any questions you may have.

Spirit Week – Events

Dress up Days
Students (and staff) are encouraged to dress up in the theme of each day during Spirit Week. Themes are as follows:

  1. Monday: School Colors day (purple/gold)
  2. Tuesday: Comfy day 
  3. Wednesday: Twin day 
  4. Thursday: Formal day
  5. Friday: Sports day

*note: All clothing worn for dress up days should still follow general clothing guidelines. Students choosing not to participate in the dress up days are required to wear their uniforms.

School Mural
In our ongoing efforts to beautify our school and community, our student body will create a large mural on the east wall outside of school under the guidance of our visual arts teachers. Students will use time from select classes throughout the week to create this huge work of art. We can’t wait to see what they’ve designed!

Field Day
Our Spirit Week ends on Friday with a Field Day in Golden Gate Park. Students will have the opportunity to engage in fun-filled games and team building activities, and enjoy a delicious BBQ lunch and ice cream social!

Club Fair
Next Tuesday during lunch (11:30am – 12:00pm), our student clubs will hold a club fair to introduce their clubs and recruit interested students to join in the fun. From Art Club, to Basketball Club, to Games Club – and even a Honeybee Club, come see what these student-run clubs are all about and join a club that is right for you!

San Francisco High School of the Arts students representing each department will be at Herbst Theatre on Thursday, December 2, to share their multitude of gifts and talents with you this holiday season.
